Child Safety - What is more
important?
Kidshield has only
one aim - to educate and protect our children
Kidshield is packed with useful information and advice, we've
reviewed the latest
child safety software packages to help you decide which one is
best for you.
Our focus for 2008 is to help to dramatically reduce the number
of children surfing online without online filters installed, and
increase awareness amongst parents of the simple steps they can take
to make their children safe online.
Protect your children online
Don't leave your family exposed to the real dangers they can face
on the Internet. Protecting your children online is as easy as
purchasing parental control software for as little as
£30 per
year.
"1 in 5 children aged 10 to 17 have received a
sexual solicitation over the Internet." Net Nanny is a powerful, yet
simple to install parental control solution that helps parents
protect their children and monitor their Internet use. More than an
Internet Filter, it is peace of mind. Read our review at

Kidshield have put together a range of products designed to keep
your children safe from harm online. Don't let someone else
educate your kids! We offer a range of free products

Nearly a third of young people
have received unwanted sexual comment online or by text.

Children and young people often place
themselves at risk online by engaging in risky, cybersexual
behaviour. These situations could have been prevented if young users
had been sufficiently empowered to stay in control of their personal
information online or recognise and take steps to protect themselves
from risky engagement with suspicious contacts. Source:

Get Educated and Get Safe
"Because they are upstairs and they're quiet
doesn't mean they're safe. They're no more safe upstairs on the
Internet than they are out in the park at 2 O'Clock in the morning"
MA State Police Internet Crimes Taskforce
What really does go on?
Paedophiles communicate with each
other and with unsuspecting children every minute of every day.
Don't fool yourself into thinking that this is a problem for other
people to worry about, if your child is surfing the net then you
need to get smart, before someone else educates your child on your
behalf.

Keech is a pedophile who has been a
member of the
BLISS forums since June 2002.
He has made note that he prefers little boys
with blonde hair and green eyes. He lives in the UK and has posted
about taking on a work placement through school in which he works
with children (an unpaid position).
Extract from Keech chat:

... I have seen great cuteness at the
placement venue when I went yesterday and I think it's too
good to turn down (indeed I went in and the kids started
asking who I was!) so I shall accept it for a few weeks and
see how it goes... I only waited four months for the police
check and good things come to those who wait....
Never done this sort of thing before but
its kinda like eating sprouts - how do you know you hate
sprouts if you don't try them? Thus, how do I know I'm not
going to like working in an After School Club if I don't
actually work there?
I feel lucky and happy. Getting home at
twenty to eight in the evening may well be one of the
downers but think of the boys. Keech.... |

Kidshield Comment: If you are shocked by what you've just read then
you should be.
Educate yourself
and then your children, install parental
control software and keep talking to your children.
The
Internet is a fantastic educational tool that your children should
be encouraged to use to its full potential, but whilst they are
still children they need to be protected from its darker side.

25% of children and young people surveyed said they had met up in
the offline world with someone with whom they had made initial
contact online. (based on a partial sample of 6000 respondents)

Bullying has taken on a whole new concept
with the advent of the digital age and almost 35% of children in a
recent survey said they had been subjected to cyber bullying.
In January 2007 it
was revealed that a number of British nationals who had been
convicted of crimes abroad, including 29 for child sex offences, had
not had their information added to the UK Police National Computer.
This posed a potential risk to children as information about these
crimes was not accessible to employers to be taken into account in
recruitment decisions. source:
